This is my personal project that I did in 2021.
There's an old Russian saying «Быть добру» that could be roughly translated as "Let there be Good". Even though this is perfectly correct translation, I still prefer another variant, that goes like this: "Let there be multiplication and affirmation of goodness in the world.".
I've always wanted to share my art through different media and methods. During research, I've found out that making temporary tattoos is a beautiful way to connect with my viewers and share my thoughts. Even though temporary tattoos is an obviously temporary thing, the main artwork of this collection is still a small limited handmade print, that lasts as long as viewer wants it. The semantic core of this project is a word "Добро", which means "Goodness".
I always strive to make my art special. To prove this statement, I'm kindly inviting you to show my work progress.
All calligraphy artwork was done in Procreate with standard calligraphic brush "Marker". If you're acquainted with my art, you might find these letters very familiar, since these letters were predecessors of a font project that I've published earlier. However, these are standalone calligraphic compositions that share same style, but are far more advanced.
Even though this style was done in Procreate, it can still be replicated with wide brush. The difference between my previous Vyaz (Cyrillic Ligature Letters) is that the flow and natural hand movement comes in first place. Also I find this style quite legible and pleasant, considering there's no monospace characters as well as unnecessary strict geometry.
Despite the fact that this project has digital roots, it's exceptionally analogue, since production took hours and hours to bring everything into a solid finished state. I can assume that this is the perfect blend between digital and analogue work, which never gets me bored during the working hours.
As much as these pictures may look nice, they still don't represent the beauty of real work and printing. That's why I've created video montage of my Instagram stories, so I also highly encourage you to view it.
Apart from making envelope and prints, I've decided to add on top additional print. If you're accustomed with my portfolio, I'm a big fan of birds. From the very beginning I was sure that this project is not about making a simple product for selling, because I've wanted to put as much as possible of my soul and effort into this.
The printing process of this bird is literally the same as it's shown above, however it's far more satisfying, since the magic happens when three colours (black, white and paper color) collide into one solid artwork. This is my first multi-colour printed artwork and even though it's not perfect, it looks amazing.
It's up to you to decide, but I can hypothesise that this is one of the most beautiful projects I've done so far. It's a pure art project in which I didn't have any restrictions. Those people who bought these are very lucky, since I don't do these projects as often as I should.
Still, I'm glad that I did photos and video during and after the work, so I can share them here with you.
